World of Asphalt education program announced

Dec. 9, 2011 - Educational opportunities will abound at the 2012 World of Asphalt Show and Conference and 2012 AGG1 Aggregates Forum and Expo for industry professionals in the aggregates, asphalt, highway/street, pavement maintenance and traffic safety sectors. The co-located shows will be held March 13 to 15 at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, N.C. Attendees can take advantage of more than 90 learning opportunities that provide practical, ready-to-use operational and management strategies and techniques. Attendees will have access to the sessions in the AGG1 Academy, the People, Plants and Paving Training Program and the Asphalt Pavement Alliance’s Asphalt Pavement Conference. Advance registration for the shows’ exhibits and education is open, and registering in advance saves time and money.

“Industry professionals need to keep up to speed on the latest issues
that can affect their businesses; our show education offers convenient
and affordable access to content-rich presentations on best practices
and innovative techniques,” stated show director Melissa Magestro.

The AGG1 Academy will deliver practical and timely content for
aggregates producers, suppliers and customers, developed by member
committees of the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association,
which is AGG1 owner. Presentations will focus on areas including
environmental; safety and health; plant operations; drilling and
blasting; dredging; communications and community relations; management
and business development; automation, technology and operations; and
sustainability. All levels of industry professionals, from operators to
foremen to managers, will benefit with information they can take back to
the workplace.

The People, Plants and Paving Training Program is designed for paving
contractors of all sizes as well as allied companies, with a focus on
paving and plant operators, foremen, superintendents, project managers
and owners. The latest methods in asphalt paving and production
efficiencies will be covered in five program tracks: safety, pavement
preservation, sustainability, paving and plant production. A sixth track
will examine management and leadership skills to help company personnel
achieve their maximum potential.

Program sponsors are the National Asphalt Pavement Association,which is World of Asphalt co-owner, and Asphalt Emulsion
Manufacturers Association, Asphalt Recycling and Reclaiming
Association, Association of Modified Asphalt Producers,
International Slurry Surfacing Association and Rubber Pavements
Association.

The Asphalt Pavement Alliance’s Asphalt Pavement Conference at
World of Asphalt is of particular value to paving professionals in the
public and private sector involved in the design, construction and
maintenance process. The day and a half conference will feature three
main topic areas – Innovations in Paving, Pavement Preservation with
Plant Mix and Keeping Competitive. An interactive roundtable format will
help participants share ideas and experiences to increase their
effectiveness and reduce costs in today’s environment.

Conference sponsors with APA are the American Association of State
Highway and Transportation Officials and the U.S. Federal
Highway Administration.

Attendees have access to all education programs at both World of Asphalt
and AGG1. Education sessions offer CEU Continuing Education Credits or
certificates of attendance to document Professional Development Hours.
