Split-Fire founder Bert Vanderweerd dies

vanderweerdFeb. 14, 2012 - Bert Vanderweerd, president and founder of Split-Fire has passed away at the age of 55. The company released the following announcement: "It is with a saddened heart that we inform you of the passing of Bert Vanderweerd, the founder and president of Split-Fire Sales Inc.
 

"Mr. Vanderweerd died peacefully on Monday, February 13th at 6:30 p.m.,
after a long and courageous fight against multiple myeloma. He passed
away surrounded by family members and leaves behind seven children. As a
family-owned business, Bert’s legacy will continue as Split-Fire Sales
will be operated by his wife and two eldest sons.
 
"Friends will be received at the Arn-Lockie Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 16,
2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. in Norwich, Ont. The funeral service will be
held at Heritage Netherlands Reformed Church in Burgessville, Ont.,
on February 17, at 11 a.m.
 
"The Vanderweerd family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Canadian Cancer Society."
