European Rental Market: The first International Rental Exhibition (IRE) will be held in Amsterdam in June 2008.

The first International Rental Exhibition (IRE) will be held in Amsterdam in June 2008. The new show, organized in co-operation with the European Rental Association (ERA), will be held at the RAI exhibition centre in Amsterdam on June 3, 4 and 5.

An integral part of the event will be the European Rental Association’s annual conference on June 4 and 5. Many other international and domestic associations and federations are also expected to hold meetings and conferences during the event.

The exhibition will be open to all suppliers to the rental sector: equipment manufacturers, including global companies and small local suppliers; and suppliers of specialist services to the rental sector such as software and asset tracking technology. The ERA says the show will provide suppliers with an opportunity to present equipment and products tailored for the rental sector. The main focus of the show will be compact equipment and tools.

“The time is right for a new rental event in Europe, and the ERA is putting its full support behind the International Rental Exhibition in Amsterdam,” says Mr Gérard Deprez, chairman of the European Rental Association. “We will be looking to bring together the whole rental industry under one roof. This is a great opportunity for the European, regional and international rental industry.”

The International Rental Exhibition also has the official support of International Rental News (IRN), the world’s leading international rental magazine, and the magazine’s publisher, KHL Group.

The event coincides with rapid growth in the European and international rental sector. European rental volumes currently stand at up to 21.5 billion Euros (Cdn$31.7 billion) a year and the market grew by an estimated eight percent last year and is expected to continue to see high growth rates for several years. Growth is fuelled both by high European investment in building and construction as well as a gradual switch from ownership of equipment to rental.

The IRE event will also provide a focus for the huge potential of developing rental markets in eastern Europe and the rest of the world, and will be an international meeting place for the rental industry’s top people and companies. The rental market in North America is already worth up to 23 billion Euros (Cdn$33.9 billion) annually, but there is enormous potential for rental in the major markets of Russia, eastern and central Europe, India, China, Asia Pacific and the rest of the world.

Tony Kenter, chairman of Netherlands based exhibition organizer IPI, adds that “The rental market continues to grow at a great pace and is attracting many new companies and users all the time. The sector has great potential and we see the International Rental Exhibition becoming an integral part of turning that potential into reality.” -end-
