Searing op-ed by OSE’s Wood illustrates COVID program failures

Michael Wood, president of Ottawa Special Events, painted a sad picture of small businesses failing due to COVID-19 lockdown in a July 16 op-ed in the Ottawa Citizen. Wood criticizes federal government assistance programs for being one-size-fits-all, incentivizing workers to stay home and unfairly allowing large retailers to stay open while forcing small stores to close.

Wood has been prominent during the pandemic as a vocal advocate for small business.
