Ontario CRA golf tournament damp but enjoyable

The sun was shining for the 10 a.m. tee-off, but some light showers moved through the area throughout the day. Paul Everitt, CRA national supplier director and chair of the CRA Ontario Golf Committee, was just able to organize the shotgun start without getting water in his bullhorn.

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines.

The tournament was greatly enhanced by the enthusiastic participation of sponsors. Hole sponsors included AE Sales, Equipment Synergy International, Wacker Neuson, Rentquip, National Hose, Point of Rental Systems, Minden Hills Rentall, Skyjack, Clarke, National Event Supply, Texada, Bradford Rental/Stihl, All Cover Portable Systems, Vulcan Demolition, Echo Power Equipment, DeWalt, Air Liquide Canada, Golfers Green and Husqvarna. Many sponsors also donated prizes. Canadian Rental Service was the official media partner.

Industry leaders were on hand to help out. Wayne Beckett, CRA national president, made a speech commemorating CRA Ontario's 50th anniversary.

Many familiar faces were on hand, some of whom have been coming to the tournament since the beginning. Dennis Black golfed, Shirley McCormick helped with handing out prizes and the putting challenge, Wally Carruthers swapped stories in the clubhouse and Peter Sulyma gave out his traditional award to the top lady golfers.

Trehaven served up a buffet dinner of steak and corn, followed by a very special cake.
