Aug. 25, 2010 – Featuring a heavy-duty design, the new HI 400HD series indirect fired heaters from Wacker Nueson Climate Technology are built to deliver reliable operation in extreme cold-weather conditions. The company says the Wacker Neuson cold-weather package enables the heaters to deliver consistent heat, even in temperatures as low as -40˚ F
(-40˚ C). An exclusive combustion air supply system option allows warm air to be diverted to the burner further ensuring clean, dependable combustion when operating in extreme cold.

Three easily interchangeable supply air adapters – 20-in (508-mm) single, 16-in (406-mm) dual or 12-in (305-mm) triple – provide contractors with multiple options for directing heat to where it is needed. An optional 20-in (508-mm) return-air adapter delivers adjustable recirculation of warm inside air to provide higher fuel savings and more uniform internal temperatures.

Eliminating the open flame that can introduce combustion carbons and water into the work area, these units produce clean, moisture-free heat.. The CSA-approved heaters include a dedicated second blower for combustion efficiency reaching 85 percent, which Wacker Neuson says makes the new HI 400HD heaters among the most efficient on the market.

The heaters operate on diesel fuel (HI 400HD D) or natural gas/propane (HI 400HD G), giving contractors more fuel options to meet jobsite needs. Both models come standard with a robust frame design complete with cross-support bracing, lifting bale and forklift pockets. An adjustable handle and large pneumatic tires integrated into the frame facilitate heater positioning at the jobsite.

With a large fuel tank that extends intervals between refilling, the diesel model features a two-stage burner with an optional setting for increased fuel savings during low-heat demand. The powerful HI 400HD D fuel input options include: stage 1 at 272,000 BTU/hr (79.7 kW); and stage 2 at 411,000 BTU/hr (120.5 kW). Producing 3,750 CFM air movement at 0.6-in static pressure, the unit efficiently heats up to 583,528 ft3 (16,524 m3) areas or dries up to a 195,000 ft3 (5,522 m3) space.

The Wacker Neuson HI 400HD G features an adjustable ball valve with a safety-locking device to conveniently switch back and forth between natural gas and LP fuel sources. The heater’s dedicated second blower improves combustion efficiency to 85.6 percent. With its 381,000 BTU/hr (111.7 kW) fuel input and 126˚ F (52.2˚ C) temperature rise, the HI 400HD G quickly heats up to a 548,333 ft3 (15,527 m3) space or dries a 195,000 ft3 (5,522 m3) area. The heaters produce 3,820 CFM air movement at 0.6-in static pressure. The company says the 100 percent stainless steel burner head and gas pipe assembly extends service life.

The HI 400HD series introduction expands Wacker Neuson Climate Technology’s extensive indirect fired heater line to 14 models. The full line offers a fuel input range from 112,000 to 720,000 BTU/hour (32.8 to 211.0 kW).
