cooperSept. 30, 2014 - The Rental Industry and the world lost a true original when Gord Cooper passed away suddenly on August 22, 2014 at the age of 72.

Gord started G. Cooper Equipment Rentals Ltd. in his garage in 1972, with a wife and three young kids at home. To do this with nothing more than a few bucks and a dream took a lot of courage, but those of us who knew Gord know he was a raw example of the mindset it takes to be a real rental entrepreneur.

Cooper Equipment Rentals has evolved and grown tremendously over the years since that humble beginning. Gord was very proud of the company he started and built, and was so pleased to see the company and its people driving forward to achieve their full potential.

Still cracking off colour jokes and delivering his famous one-liners such as “If I had known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself”, Gord died on the 11th hole of his golf course on a beautiful sunny Friday afternoon. He was with good friends, playing the game he loved, and was smiling right to the end.

Gord Cooper was one of those rare and genuine characters that are bigger than life. He packed a lot of living into his 72 years, and stands as an example to us all that each day should be lived to the fullest.

He will be sorely missed.
