Canadian Rental Association B.C. national director Angie Venekamp is
warning rental operators in the Vancouver area about a credit card scam. Rental operators encountering the con men are encouraged to contact the RCMP.

According to Venekamp, two CRA members have fallen victim to the scam in the north Vancouver area. Two men rented equipment with  appropriate documentation, a matching driver's licence and credit card. The cards accepted pre-authorization, however when the actual amount was entered for processing, the card came back as a "bad account." The con men have used two different business names and two different card numbers but the same name, Thomas Conlin, and fake address, 1066 University Blvd., in both scams. Venekamp reports they are driving a grey Mazda, license plate 363 SDP.
