Rental Show moves to Sands
When The Rental Show returns to Las Vegas in two years, it will be to a new venue: the Sands Expo and Convention Center. The Venetian and The Palazzo will be the headquarter hotels.

April, 2011 – When The Rental Show returns to
Las Vegas in two years, it will be to a new venue: the Sands Expo and
Convention Center. The Venetian and The Palazzo will be the
headquarters hotels.

The Rental Show 2013 will be Feb. 10-13, keeping with the current Sunday through Wednesday schedule.

The move further north on Las Vegas Boulevard should be a good one for
attendees and exhibitors alike, according to Allison Box, senior
administrative director for association services at the American Rental
Association. “The new site at the Sands Expo will be a more convenient
location for everyone, since it’s more centrally located in the middle
of the Las Vegas Strip and will offer more dining and entertainment
options both in the headquarters hotels and in the immediate vicinity.”

The Venetian and The Palazzo have restaurants featuring such acclaimed
chefs as Emeril Lagasse, Thomas Keller, Wolfgang Puck, Charlie Trotter,
Mario Batali and others, plus a wide variety of casual dining options.
Current entertainment includes Blue Man Group, Phantom – The Las Vegas
Spectacular, Jersey Boys and headlining entertainment from Tim Allen,
Joan Rivers and David Spade, plus there is shopping at The Grand Canal
Shoppes and The Shoppes at The Palazzo. The Venetian and The Palazzo are
both all-suite hotel properties.

In addition to the hotel amenities, the Sands Expo provides equivalent space for the trade show, educational seminars and other
events The Rental Show will continue to offer to all attendees, Box
said. “The hotels and the Sands Expo are one campus complex, providing
easy access among the three properties,” she said.

The last three times The Rental Show has been in Las Vegas – 2005, 2008
and 2011 – it’s been held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
However, future dates in the timeframe needed for The Rental Show were
not available at Mandalay Bay going forward. “We have specific criteria
for selecting convention dates,” Box said. “The Rental Show is held in
February because attendees and exhibitors have indicated this time works
better for them, so those are the dates we need. We also want to stay
in a warmer climate. Las Vegas is a very popular convention city,
especially in the winter months, which can make getting specific dates a
challenge. This relocation change to the Sands Expo offers new
opportunities and benefits for attendees to add to the enjoyment of The
Rental Show.”

The Rental Show is returning to Las Vegas in two years, instead of the
three years that had been the rotation of cities. “We are able to
accommodate the frequent request from our construction exhibitors to be
in Orlando, Fla., every three years when CONEXPO-CON/AGG is in Las
Vegas,” Box said. “The Rental Show 2014 will be held in Orlando and
every three years after that until at least 2029.”

The future dates for The Rental Show are:
•    2012: Feb. 5-8 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, New Orleans
•    2013: Feb. 10-13 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center, Las Vegas
•    2014: Feb. 9-12 at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Fla.
