Paul Amedee to lead Safway Group team

amedeeMay 31, 2013 — Safway Group has announced that Paul Amedee has joined Safway’s safety team, effective April 15, 2013. In his role as vice-president of safety, Amedee will lead the continued improvement and advancement of Safway’s safety systems and reporting tools and coordinate all safety-related administrative procedures. Indirectly, Amedee will also be responsible for overseeing regional and branch safety personnel, as well as employee and customer safety-related training.

safety team, effective April 15, 2013. In his role as vice-president of safety,
Amedee will lead the continued improvement and advancement of Safway’s safety
systems and reporting tools and coordinate all safety-related administrative
procedures. Indirectly, Amedee will also be responsible for overseeing regional
and branch safety personnel, as well as employee and customer safety-related
training.

customers. Paul will work closely with our leadership team and employees
throughout the Safway Group to determine the best approach to behavioral-based,
metric-driven and sustained safety improvement.

“We’ve made a
significant advancement in our safety record over the past year,” adds Hayes.
“In the first quarter of this year, our Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR)
in the refinery market was 0.0. For North America overall, we had a 47 percent
reduction in recordable incidents over first quarter last year, and our TRIR
dropped to 0.83. We expect Paul to continue to build on this momentum.”

Amedee brings relevant
safety experience and leadership to the Safway Group, having spent over 20
years in the safety field. Amedee has held leadership positions directly
supervising field safety professionals, as well as corporate management roles
developing safety plans and leading strategic initiatives. During his five
years with The Shaw Group, from 2006 to 2011, Amedee served as corporate
environmental health and safety compliance manager. Most recently, Amedee
served as the quality health safety security environmental leader for Champion
Technologies, a global specialty chemical company serving the oil and gas and
refinery industries. Amedee received his bachelor of science in safety, health
and physical education from Nicholls State University in Louisiana.

enhancing Safway’s comprehensive safety management systems, processes and
procedures with the addition of new behavioral-based programs,” Amedee says.
“This will allow us to continue moving ahead and be the best in safety in our
industry.”
