Sept. 5, 2017 - United Rentals has acquired power equipment assets, primarily mobile rental generator sets, from Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI). The company will start serving the needs of former Cummins rental customers, and has made its newly acquired rental equipment available immediately.

Sept. 5, 2017 - Toromont Industries Ltd. has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the businesses and net operating assets1 of the Hewitt Group of companies in exchange for consideration of $917.7 million cash plus the issuance of 2.25 million Toromont shares (nominally $100 million based on 10 day average share price as at signing) for a total consideration of $1.0177 billion. Hewitt Equipment Limited is the authorized Caterpillar dealer for the province of Québec, Western Labrador and the Maritimes, as well as the Caterpillar lift truck dealer for most of Ontario. Hewitt is also the MaK dealer for Québec, the Maritimes and the Eastern seaboard of the United States, from Maine to Virginia. All amounts are in Canadian currency.
Aug. 8, 2017 - General Equipment Company has announced that Randy Dahl has joined their company as Vice President of Sales where he will have responsibility for the development and coordination of sales and marketing for national and independent accounts. He will also oversee long term sales strategy development as well as General Equipment’s sales representative organizations for North America.
Kelly Elliot, a marketing representative with Stihl Canada and Ward 1 Councillor for Thames Centre, Ont., has taken exception with the August Canadian Rental Service article, "Working Millennials," by Kate Zabriskie. CRS Contractors Rental Supply has entered into a unit purchase agreement to sell CRS to Sunbelt Rentals, the North American business of Ashtead Group, for $275 million plus a potential earn-out. CRS is Sunbelt’s first acquisition in eastern Canada and will become Sunbelt’s operational platform in Ontario. The proposed transaction is expected to close in the coming weeks after satisfaction of certain regulatory approvals.

July 6, 2017 - The Home Depot has announced a definitive agreement to purchase Compact Power Equipment, Inc., a national provider of equipment rental and maintenance services for $265 million in cash. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the company's fiscal second quarter.
