July 6, 2018 - United Rentals, Inc. and BakerCorp International Holdings, Inc. today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which United Rentals will acquire BakerCorp for approximately $715 million in cash. The boards of directors of United Rentals and BakerCorp have unanimously approved the agreement. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2018.
July 4, 2018 - NESCO, LLC announced today that it has completed the acquisition of N&L Line Equipment. N&L manufactures many products related to the live-line maintenance of electric utility lines. The N&L offering includes transmission tools up to 800 kV, substation maintenance tools, as well as distribution hotline tools.
July 3, 2018 - Herc Rentals Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Herc Holdings Inc., has announced that it will expand its Herc Rentals brand across its North American operations. As a result, the company’s main brand in Canada, Hertz Equipment Rental, will immediately begin to transition to Herc Rentals.
June 27, 2018 - Finning Canada, a division of Finning International Inc., opened the doors of its first Used Equipment Centre in Acheson, Alberta just outside Edmonton on June 15.
June 12, 2018 - Bandit Industries owners Mike Morey Sr., Dianne Morey and Jerry Morey announced on June 7 they would sell 100 percent of the company to their employees in an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP). Under the ESOP, Bandit will retain its current leadership and key management personnel will remain in place. It will also allow Bandit to always remain Bandit.

On June 6 in Ottawa the Canadian Propane Association presented George Olah with its Lifetime Achievement Award. Olah is familiar to the rental industry from his time as general manager of Abco Equipment and Supplies in Toronto, his involvement with the Canadian Rental Association and his stint as a columnist in Canadian Rental Service.
June 1, 2018 - Strongco Corporation has announced that it has reached an agreement to terminate the lease of its branch at 205 McAlpine Crescent in Fort McMurray, Alberta, effective July 1, 2018, and has entered into a separate agreement to sublet a smaller building at 310 MacKenzie Boulevard as its new branch in Fort McMurray. The total cost for termination of the existing lease plus real estate fees, legal fees and relocation costs is anticipated to be approximately $3 million. The net savings from exiting the current leased facility in favour of the smaller sublet facility are expected to exceed $9 million.
