July 3, 2018 - Herc Rentals Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Herc Holdings Inc., has announced that it will expand its Herc Rentals brand across its North American operations. As a result, the company’s main brand in Canada, Hertz Equipment Rental, will immediately begin to transition to Herc Rentals.
June 28, 2018 - Takeuchi-US has introduced Todd Granger as director of dealer sales, effective immediately. Based out of Takeuchi-US headquarters in Pendergrass, Georgia, Todd will be responsible for all sales activity through the company’s North American dealer sales channel.
June 27, 2018 - Finning Canada, a division of Finning International Inc., opened the doors of its first Used Equipment Centre in Acheson, Alberta just outside Edmonton on June 15.
June 12, 2018 - Bandit Industries owners Mike Morey Sr., Dianne Morey and Jerry Morey announced on June 7 they would sell 100 percent of the company to their employees in an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP). Under the ESOP, Bandit will retain its current leadership and key management personnel will remain in place. It will also allow Bandit to always remain Bandit.
June 12, 2018 - Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers has announced that effective July 27, 2018, Greg Owens, Group President, New Sectors & Ventures, and former CEO of IronPlanet, Inc., is resigning from the business to pursue other opportunities.
On June 6 in Ottawa the Canadian Propane Association presented George Olah with its Lifetime Achievement Award.  Olah is familiar to the rental industry from his time as general manager of Abco Equipment and Supplies in Toronto, his involvement with the Canadian Rental Association and his stint as a columnist in Canadian Rental Service.
June 1, 2018 - Strongco Corporation has announced that it has reached an agreement to terminate the lease of its branch at 205 McAlpine Crescent in Fort McMurray, Alberta, effective July 1, 2018, and has entered into a separate agreement to sublet a smaller building at 310 MacKenzie Boulevard as its new branch in Fort McMurray. The total cost for termination of the existing lease plus real estate fees, legal fees and relocation costs is anticipated to be approximately $3 million. The net savings from exiting the current leased facility in favour of the smaller sublet facility are expected to exceed $9 million.
May 23, 2018 - The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) has elected Willie Harbert, vice president, sales, hydraulics group of Eaton, to the AEM CE Sector Board to fill an unexpired term.
May 21, 2018 - Terex Utilities recently participated in the 27th Annual Canadian Utility Fleet Form in Toronto, Ontario. The event format is for open discussion between fleet managers and equipment manufacturers. In Canada, Terex Utilities partners with its dealers Wajax and Commercial Equipment Corp.

Stephenson's Rental Services has opened a new full-service store located at 2382 Stouffville Road in Stouffville, Ont. The new location is just  one kilometer east of Highway 404 and will serve the Aurora, Bracebridge, Markham, Newmarket and Richmond Hill areas.

May 7, 2018 - HOLT Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of HOLT CAT, has announced a $750,000 investment in Used Equipment Guide, the world's largest used heavy equipment and truck search engine.
Brett and Scott Renaud have sold Bresco Industries to Waste Management Canada, effective May 1.“This is an exciting opportunity for our customers in the Revelstoke area and a well-timed transition for our family business,” said Brett Renaud of Bresco Industries, in a news release.
Apr. 24, 2018 - SMS Equipment Inc. is pleased to announce that they are moving their Williams Lake branch to a new and larger location within the area to better serve their customers. The move is scheduled for Friday, April 27, 2018. The new location is a short one-minute drive from their previous office and features approximately 8,000 square feet on a level 1.5-acre lot.
