HERC v.s HERC

The Hamilton Spectator has reported on the ongoing battle between Hamilton Equipment Rental Centre and Hertz Equipment Rental Corporation over the use of the acronym "HERC." Hertz is suing Hamilton Equipment Rental for trademark infringement in Federal Court and seeking a court order to force it to stop using the name. Hamilton Equipment Rental says it has been using the acronym since the 1970s, well before Hertz trademarked HERC in the U.S.
