Compact, Portable Power Distribution System
By Larson ElectronicsProducts
June 15, 2016 - Larson Electronics has introduced a portable power transformer, the TX-3000VA-480.120-1XAO, that converts 480 volts AC to 120 volts AC, ideal for powering high voltage lighting and equipment.
This compact power distribution transformer is designed for portability, convenience and durability, has weather proof construction and includes an elevated base platform for protection from standing water. With overload and short circuit protection, this unit safely allows operators to power equipment up to 3000 watts from a 480 volt AC power source.
This portable transformer features a primary 480 volt current that is brought in by 10 feet of 12/3 SOOW cord terminated in a L8-20P twist-lock cord cap. The output side is equipped with a GFCI protected 20-amp 120 volt duplex receptacle with a hinged weatherproof cover. To connect input current, the operator must insert the plug and twist it until it locks into place in order to energize the plug. This design provides a secure and safe connection that prevents arcing and accidental plug pullouts.
“This power distribution system is built with a carrying handle that can easily be used as a cord wrap for storing and transporting,” said Rob Bresnahan, CEO of Larson Electronics. “This unit features short circuit and over load protection. In the instance of circuit overload, the unit automatically shuts down to protect the transformer and connected equipment from damage.”
