Oct. 14, 2009 – CAT recently announced it would raise prices up to 2 per cent on most machines worldwide beginning in January 2010. The increase includes adjustments to list prices and merchandising support.

The company said the price change is a result of current industry factors and expected general economic conditions. Details by product will be released to dealers in the near future and will vary across geographic regions and products.

The increase, the company said, is the smallest since 2006 and is lower than the past three years, when prices climbed as much as 7 per cent.

Caterpillar planned for increases of as much as 5 per cent in 2006 and as much as 5 per cent for machines and 7 per cent for engines in 2007, according to figures supplied by the company. The 2008 plan for price boosts of as much as 5 per cent for machines and 6 per cent for engines was augmented by another midyear increase.
