Canadian Rental Association
As I write this, I am recovering from taking a few days of vacation this past week and getting my fill of golf in. One of the highlights of the past week was participating in the Manitoba Local Golf tourney which was held at Southwood Golf and Country Club on August 20. While the tourney was quaint in size, it is still one of the tournaments I have the most fun at.
It is hard to believe once again that summer is in its twilight stages. Don’t blink too quick or it will be gone completely. I have always found September to be a great time to start action plans and following through on the – wait for it – winter season.
Aug. 24, 2015 - The Global Rental Alliance (GRA), made up of seven peer equipment rental associations from throughout the world, held their mid-year meeting via webinar in late-August with executives of member associations present.
As the summer rolls along and the weather progressively continues to heat up along with day-to-day business one of the seasonal predicaments we find ourselves in is needing to manage vacation times for our employees.
July 9, 2015 - Chicago Pneumatic Construction Equipment Vice President of Sales, John Vogel, is running for the American Rental Association (ARA) Associate Member Director. The position holds the responsibility of representing associate member perspectives and interests as they relate to the ARA.
May 21, 2015 - Leonard Hawk, 91, one of the founders and the first president of the American Rental Association (ARA), died May 6, 2015, in Moline, Ill.
In business, the goal is always to get out as much or more than you put in. After 35 years of involvement with the Canadian Rental Association, and many hundreds of hours volunteered as an executive at all levels, I can tell you that participation in your rental organization is an investment that pays off. My small store and my professional career would not be where they are today without the friends I made and the experiences I had inside the CRA. The benefits have been huge, and direct.
Happy spring to all! It certainly looks like spring has sprung in good ol’ Winnipeg. Weather has been pretty darn fine – just praying we haven’t peaked early. As I contemplated what to write for this column (valiantly fighting off writer’s block), I settled for a bit of a potpourri of topics to touch on.
May 5, 2015 - The three-year term of your current National Supplier Director, Dean Nasato, is coming to an end. These types of positions demand tremendous dedication and therefore we would like to thank him for volunteering his time, and for a job well done!
There was so much to talk about at the Canadian Rental Association’s meetings this spring that I couldn’t fit it all in to my last column. So here’s the rest of what we worked on.
April 16, 2015 - About 45 members of the CRA Ontario chapter were on hand for the last meeting of the season at Rentquip Canada.
As I officially commence my upcoming term as CRA president, which officially began in New Orleans at the end of February, I would like to share some of the experiences at the recent meetings of our board and the Global Alliance, as well as the AGM meetings.
March 9, 2015 - The 13th annual meeting of the Global Rental Alliance (GRA) was held recently at The Rental Show 2015 in New Orleans, La.
Shows are a great chance to show your support.
Jan. 26, 2015 - From the moment I stepped off the plane on Friday morning right through to when I flew back to Toronto on Sunday, the skies in Surrey, B.C. - home of the Canadian Rental Association BC trade show - treated everyone to a non-stop downpour. That, however, did not stop some 230 rental professionals from taking part in this annual event Jan. 23 and 24.
