Canadian Rental Association
The Canadian Rental Association's Ontario local held its January meeting on Jan. 18 at Kubota Canada' huge distribution warehouse in Markham, Ont. About 50 attendees got an eyeful of a thoroughly modern construction equipment operation along with dinner and an informative talk on Tier IV diesel standards.
The meeting package for the Canadian Rental Association's national Annual General Meeting is now available to members. The AGM will take place Feb. 27 at 4:00 pm at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., room S319, during the American Rental Association's Rental Show.
Iam sitting here looking at my computer and thinking about what I am going to say in my first message as president. My first thought is to thank everyone for putting their faith in me and giving me this wonderful opportunity.
Nov. 15, 2016 - Do you know that your local’s success depends on you?
An interesting thing about injuries (it is incorrect to call them “accidents”) is that they never happen when it’s convenient and we seldom recognize the true cost to our businesses. This is particularly relevant in our rental world, as we tend to run our businesses with minimal staffing and often operate with very tight margins.
Nov. 1, 2016 - Two industry veterans from the manufacturing side of equipment rental will become the newest inductees into the Rental Hall of Fame next February. Art Moore, the founder of Snorkel, and Spencer Etzel, a visionary in tent rental now with Rainier, will be formally inducted during a ceremony at The Rental Show® on Feb. 27.
This has always been my favorite time of year, both because of the colours of fall and the anticipation of a clear morning with the first snowfall covering the world. In every corner of this great country, winter is inevitable. In preparation for this season our rental stores have a dedicated plan each fall to prepare our fleets and switch gears for the changing equipment demands.
Aug. 23, 2016 - The Global Rental Alliance (GRA), made up of seven peer equipment rental associations from throughout the world, held their mid-year meeting via webinar in late-August with participation of association executive staff.
One of the frequently asked questions from supervisors is, “How do I engage workers in effective toolbox or safety learning sessions? And, why are toolbox sessions important?” In order to continue improving this element of our workplace culture, we need to make some adjustments that will increase our teams’ safety awareness.
As I write this in late May, I am sharing office space with one of the many evacuees from the Fort McMurray fire. On a personal level, he has a wife and a one-year-old who have had to fly east to stay with family, and he is not alone in this forced separation experience.
