Nov. 1, 2016 - Two industry veterans from the manufacturing side of equipment rental will become the newest inductees into the Rental Hall of Fame next February. Art Moore, the founder of Snorkel, and Spencer Etzel, a visionary in tent rental now with Rainier, will be formally inducted during a ceremony at The Rental Show® on Feb. 27.
October 17, 2016 - Despite the tee off times being moved to include some of BC's finest weather, the annual CRA - BC chapter golf tournament that was held in September was a huge success.
October 13, 2016 - On October 12th, over 40 professionals involved in the equipment and party rental business descended on Burlington for the latest Ontario chapter membership meeting.
September 15, 2016 - The annual Canadian Rental Association, Ontario division golf tournament took place in Guelph at the Springfield Golf and Country Club on September 13th.
This has always been my favorite time of year, both because of the colours of fall and the anticipation of a clear morning with the first snowfall covering the world. In every corner of this great country, winter is inevitable. In preparation for this season our rental stores have a dedicated plan each fall to prepare our fleets and switch gears for the changing equipment demands.
Aug. 23, 2016 - The Global Rental Alliance (GRA), made up of seven peer equipment rental associations from throughout the world, held their mid-year meeting via webinar in late-August with participation of association executive staff.
One of the frequently asked questions from supervisors is, “How do I engage workers in effective toolbox or safety learning sessions? And, why are toolbox sessions important?” In order to continue improving this element of our workplace culture, we need to make some adjustments that will increase our teams’ safety awareness.
As I write this in late May, I am sharing office space with one of the many evacuees from the Fort McMurray fire. On a personal level, he has a wife and a one-year-old who have had to fly east to stay with family, and he is not alone in this forced separation experience.
The national newsletter from the Canadian Rental Association is now available online. There is a ton of information in there about association services, upcoming events and even a story about a Fort McMurray rental operator who named his new baby after a CBC reporter who covered the fires.
June 28, 2016 - As part of the Disaster Matching Funds Program, the ARA Foundation has made a donation of US$3,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to assist in relief efforts for families, businesses and communities affected by the Fort McMurray wild fire. This matches a donation previously made by the Canadian Rental Association (CRA).
June 14, 2016 - Christine Wehrman, CEO and executive vice president of the American Rental Association (ARA), Moline, Ill., was presented with the European Rental Association (ERA) Lifetime Achievement Award during a special ceremony as part of the ERA’s European Rental Awards 2016 dinner at the ERA’s 10th annual convention in Stockholm on Wednesday, June 8.
The Canadian Rental Association and American Rental Association have announced their Canadian scholarship recipients for the 2016/2017 school year. The association offers scholarships to promising young people in the rental industry who wish to further their education in relevant fields.
Spring is officially here, and we are once again considering adding high school students to the payroll for casual summer work. Many rental operators have developed the next generation of rental professionals by introducing them to the business as a summer student. This practice has been successfully implemented with many businesses in previous years.
May 6, 2016 - The Canadian Rental Association has made a large donation to the Canadian Red Cross to assist with wildfire relief in Fort McMurray, Alta., and is calling on members to add their support. CRA members can donate online or via text message.
April 14, 2016 - A solid turnout of close to 70 rental people made for a lively evening at the Ontario Canadian Rental Association's April meeting in Collingwood and Stayner, Ont. Members toured Happenings Party Rentals in Collingwood, Ont., followed by tours, dinner and a presentation at Stayner Rental.
