Alberta court rules rental company can file lien

Features Business Intelligence court lien tyaltaThe Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench has ruled that Tyalta Industries filed a valid lien against an oil field even though the equipment it was providing was not actually used on that oil field. Because the equipment was providing a service (gravel) to the field, and because of the nature of the oil field industry, the judge considered the equipment to be in the “immediate vicinity” of the job site even though it was working at a gravel pit 89 kilometers away.
