Rough terrain telescopic handler from Manitou
Written by Manitou
Feb. 1, 2012 - Manitou has introduced the new model MT 5519 telescopic handler, a new addition to the MT series product range. The new telescopic handlers low-profile compact frame with an overall height of six feet, four inches and tight turning radius of 11 feet mean it can maneuver in low buildings and confined job sites. The MT 5519 allows for operation in buildings, under parking garages and in confined areas. The low-profile boom reaches to a height of 19 feet, one inch and features the same welded box-section design that is on the larger MT Series telescopic handlers.

The MT 5519 telescopic handler was designed to meet the growing needs of contractors, builders and rental firms for a 5,500-pound lift capacity machine. By incorporating many of the features and benefits of the proven MT series telescopic handlers, the new MT 5519 telescopic handler adds a high performance, cost effective machine in this growing market segment.

A two-speed hydrostatic transmission with inching valve and three selectable steering modes and a powerful hydraulic system are all standard on the MT 5519.

Internal wet disc service brakes are standard equipment for better stopping capability and longer life, along with a SAHR (Spring-Applied, Hydraulic-Release) parking brake, which is automatically applied when the engine is shut off, or manually by pressing a rocker switch. This design eliminates the cable stretch and adjustments associated with many other telescopic handlers.

The view from the spaciously designed canopy is a full 360 degrees.  An enclosed cab is optional with front and top windows, a door and a heater/defroster for use in areas where operators need protection from the weather.  Air conditioning can also be added to complete a climate controlled operator environment.

Two direct mechanical joystick controls for boom and fork tilt functions are standard.  They are easy to reach and smooth to operate, optimizing operator precision and productivity. A deluxe suspension seat is optional. A work light package can be added to further increase the productivity of these machines.

Engine accessibility is made simple with a large, hinged hood on the side of the machine. The hood lifts fully out of the way, allowing plenty of room to access maintenance points, including the battery and oil fill.  Underneath the unit Manitou has added a bolted belly pan to protect all engine and hydraulic components. A hinged access door provides easy access to the engine oil drain.

The model MT 5519 is powered by a 68-horsepower, water-cooled, Yanmar four-cylinder diesel engine.  A two-speed hydrostatic transmission with inching valve and three selectable steering modes and a powerful hydraulic system are all standard on the MT 5519.
Hydraulic flow up to 22 gallons per minute provides excellent hydraulic performance. Optional auxiliary hydraulics are available to power a variety of available attachments. Attachments include truss booms, jib booms, buckets and multiple types of carriages and forks.  The quick carriage release allows quick attachment changes with unsurpassed ease. The hydraulic hoses are routed inside the boom protecting them from jobsite hazards.
