L.B. White wins Wisconsin Business Achievement award

News Supplier storiesL.B. White Company is the recipient of the 2016 Wisconsin Business Achievement Award, presented by the Flowers Family Foundation, Inc. This annual award honors the recipient for its positive impact and support of the Wisconsin Economy. The presentation is being made at WMC Foundation’s State of the Business Luncheon today in Madison.
The award includes a $75,000 donation from the Flowers Family Foundation, Inc. to a Wisconsin non-profit organization of the winner’s choosing. The Foundation allowed L.B. White to select two, Couleecap (www.couleecap.org) and Coulee Region Business Center (www.crbc.biz), which will both receive an equal donation.
Couleecap takes action to find innovative strategies to combat poverty. They are “People Helping People”, and make a difference in the lives of people and families throughout the Coulee Region. Couleecap will use the $37,500 donation as a match for state funding in their Work-N-Wheels Program, resulting in a total program gain of $75,000. The Work-N-Wheels Program assists eligible low-income working families and individuals purchase and repair vehicles that meet their need for reliable transportation to and from employment.
The Coulee Region Business Center (CRBC) is local small business incubator, with a mission to accommodate new or expanding businesses in the Coulee Region by offering reduced overhead costs and below-market lease rates, while providing professional assistance and access to local resources. The funds will be used to “revise and revitalize” the building that houses several start-up companies and CRBC’s office.
Rick Diermeier, co-owner and CEO stated, “All of our employees are very proud of this achievement. To be recognized among the many fine Wisconsin companies that were nominated for this award is truly special. Our employees prove every day that Wisconsin manufacturers can compete with anyone in the world, and win!”
Mr. Diermeier added, “We appreciate the fact that the Flower’s Family Foundation allowed us to split the $75,000 award equally between the Work-N-Wheels program within Couleecap and the Coulee Region Business Center. These awards will help more individuals and families to achieve economic prosperity and entrepreneurs to realize their dreams.”
The winner of Wisconsin Business Achievement award was chosen by a selection panel consisting of WMC President/CEO Kurt R. Bauer, UW System president Regina Millner, and Collin Levy of the Wall Street Journal.
